Truck drivers of Bangladesh are standing at the zero line of Akhaura-Agartala border. Health workers came forward from India with a temperature test device. After measuring the temperature, after checking the documents, the drivers are entering the Indian state of Tripura through Agartala with a truck full of Bangladeshi goods wearing masks and gloves.
During the Corona period, the export of goods through Akhaura land port of Brahmanbaria is going on in accordance with the health rules. Despite the increase in the spread of corona in different parts of India, the export activities through this port are normal. However, restrictions have been imposed on the movement of citizens of both the countries. At present, in the last 72 hours, the passengers who are stuck in both the countries are coming and going with the negative results of the corona test done in RT-PCR and with the permission of the concerned High Commission.
According to immigration sources at Akhaura land port, the movement of ordinary passengers has been closed for a long time. However, Indian nationals stranded in Bangladesh and Bangladeshi nationals stranded in different parts of India for treatment from Bangladesh will be able to cross the Akhaura-Agartala border. In that case the permission of the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh and the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India will be required. At present, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs of Bangladesh have sent a list of 73 Indian nationals to Akhaura Immigration to go to India through Akhaura land port. Out of the list of 63, 18 Indian nationals have returned to their homeland till Tuesday afternoon. Ten Bangladeshi nationals stranded in India have returned to the country till 3 pm. Doctors have instructed them to stay in the institutional quarantine for three days in Akhaura.
According to the customs department of Akhaura Land Port, neither the Indian High Commissioner nor any other authority of the Bangladesh government has imposed any directives or restrictions on the export of goods due to corona. Product exports remain normal. From 7 am to 3:15 pm on Tuesday, 42 trucks carrying goods went through the Akhaura land port to Agartala in the Indian state of Tripura. Notable among these are fish, plastics, cement etc. Last Monday, 220 metric tons of goods were exported to Tripura in 34 trucks. Of these, 55 metric tonnes of small and large fish, rods, cement, cotton, ceiling fans and 15 truckloads of plastic household goods were exported to Tripura, India in 19 trucks.

It was seen that the drivers of the goods transport trucks in Bangladesh stopped at the Akhaura section in front of the zero line of the Akhaura-Agartala border. At the other end of the zero line, a health worker in the Tripura part of India came forward with a temperature measuring device. When the driver raises his hand, the health worker checks the body temperature. Bangladeshi drivers wear face masks and gloves. After the formalities of the documents, the drivers entered Agartala with the truck. After crossing the zero line of the border and entering Agartala, disinfectants were sprayed around the truck.
On the other hand, a health desk has been set up at immigration. There a doctor and a health assistant sit and examine the health of passengers from both countries.
Truck drivers Sabuj Mia and Kamruzzaman, who returned to Akhaura land port after unloading goods at Agartala around 2.30 pm, told Prothom Alo, “I went to Agartala in Tripura state at 11 am with plastic goods. There are no such restrictions in Agartala. We got out of the truck and talked to the locals. When the goods are unloaded, I come back to Akhaura with the truck. ‘
Babul Mia and Asiful Prothom Alo, who came to Akhaura land port at noon with cement in a truck from Kaliganj in Gazipur to go to Agartala, told Prothom Alo, ‘Here, when we raise our hands, the body temperature is checked with a thermometer. Nothing more is done without it. Everything is normal in Agartala. ‘
Shafiqul Islam, general secretary of the Akhura C&F Agents Association, said export activities were normal. Truck drivers transporting goods do not have to show any corona test results. Their temperature is measured.

Farhana Akhter, a doctor at the health desk at Akhaura Immigration, told Prothom Alo that the passengers were checked for body temperature, cold, cough and allergies. They see two things about Bangladeshi citizens from India. Negative test results in an antigen or RT-PCR performed within the last 72 hours. However, the results of RT-PCR are given more importance. They were then advised to stay in Akhaura for three days in institutional quarantine and 11 days in home quarantine.
