transport before Eid. He said this at a regular briefing on Saturday morning. In the virtual briefing from his official residence, Obaidul Quader said that after the lockdown, considering the public interest, the government is thinking of launching public transport ahead of Eid.
He also called on the public transport workers to be patient instead of protesting.
The government has already relaxed the lockdown considering Eid and Ramadan and working people who work in shops and shopping malls, he said.
Today, May 1, International Workers’ Day is being celebrated around the world. In this context, Obaidul Quader said, May Day is the day of victory achieved through struggle, solidarity, determination and blood of the workers.
He said Bangladesh became a member of the International Labor Organization on June 22, 1972 on the initiative of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said that on the same day, Bangladesh ratified 29 conventions of the ILO, which was a rare event. The Bangabandhu government announced the first labor policy on 26 September 1972 with the aim of establishing a society free from exploitation. Emphasis is placed on the development of employer-worker relations, peace and productivity of industry, protection of the interests and welfare of the working people.
Following in the footsteps of the Father of the Nation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, has been working tirelessly to protect the rights of the exploited, deprived, oppressed and hardworking people of the country. Starting from this, the government has made arrangements to increase the salaries of garment workers and pay fair dues to agricultural workers.
The general secretary of the Awami League requested the concerned people to pay the salaries and allowances of the workers working in different factories before Eid.
He said that no matter how much propaganda the BNP spreads about Corona, the people do not believe in it and do not respond. The people’s confidence in Sheikh Hasina’s humanitarian leadership is unwavering and the government is making maximum efforts to prevent and treat the infection from its strong commitment to the people.
Obaidul Quader commented that those who are trading propaganda by capitalizing on Corona are indulging in various irregularities.
He said the BNP was suppressing the opposition on the one hand by speaking out against irregularities and on the other hand by the government taking action against irregularities and terrorism.
Obaidul Quader also mentioned that the Awami League government has taken the responsibility of running the state as a sacred service. Referring to the Awami League’s innate tradition of standing by the people in times of crisis and calamity, Obaidul Quader said, “Life and property were severely damaged in the cyclone on November 12, 1970. When Bangabandhu suspended the election activities, he said,” Election is not a big deal. So he ran among the afflicted people.
The general secretary of the Awami League told reporters about his Facebook ID, 201 fake IDs have been seen in my name through various social media recently. Who or what is intentionally uploading various statements and pictures from these fake IDs, which is not legal.
“Actually, the ID I’m using is a verified Facebook ID,” he said.
Obaidul Quader urges everyone not to be distracted by statements or pictures or any other comments spread from fake IDs other than his verified ID.
