Dhaka North City Corporation-DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said, he wants to build a healthy, vibrant and sophisticated Dhaka with the sincere cooperation of all.
The DNCC mayor said this while exchanging greetings with journalists at Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan on Saturday, the anniversary of his second term and after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
He expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Deshratna Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, for nominating him as the candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in the City Corporation elections and thanked the people of Dhaka North City Corporation for voting for the boat symbol.
The DNCC Mayor outlined the various public welfare activities undertaken and implemented for the welfare of the city dwellers since he took over the charge.
Md. Atiqul Islam spoke about providing humanitarian assistance to the unemployed, poor and helpless families in the ongoing Corona epidemic situation, distribution of health care items among the people, construction of the country’s largest “DNCC Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital” in Mohakhali. .
He also mentioned the construction of multiple parks, playgrounds, bicycle lanes, public toilets, drains, sidewalks, roads, flyovers, escalator footoverbridges, multi-storied residential buildings for cleaners in the DNCC area.
DNCC Mayor Dhaka North City Corporation to install LED street lights, use state-of-the-art road sweepers, generate electricity from waste in waste management, install pipelines including drains to alleviate waterlogging in the city and clean and maintain various canals, control dengue and chikungunya.
Mentioning the launch of Dhaka Apps to ensure citizen service for the city dwellers in the fastest time, Md. Atiqul Islam said that Dhaka North City Corporation is going to launch pension system for the first time in the country among the city corporations.
He also highlighted the project worth Tk 4,025.72 crore adopted for the construction and development of roads, infrastructure and drainage system in 16 wards of the extended metropolis and approved by ECNEC.
The DNCC Mayor hoped for the sincere cooperation of all in the days to come as in the past to transform Dhaka, the golden Bengal capital of Bangabandhu’s dream, into a livable, healthy, vibrant and sophisticated city.
