Salauddin is on a hunger strike threatening to commit suicide if she does not get married

A young woman is on hunger strike at her boyfriend’s house in Comilla’s Chandina after she refused to get married after two years of love. Nargis Akhter (20) has been on hunger strike since Wednesday afternoon.

Salauddin, 25, son of Abu Yusuf, an expatriate from Panchdhara village in Galla union of Chandina. The girl is a resident of Charkistapara village in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district.

It is known that they were introduced on social media Facebook about two years ago. Based on that identity, a love affair developed between the two. At one point, the two met in the capital, Dhaka. The girl rushed to her boyfriend’s house on Wednesday as her boyfriend Salauddin did not agree to marry her recently.

Nargis Akhter said, ‘He brought me to Dhaka and married me at the house of one of his friends, and established a husband-wife relationship. Recently he did not receive my phone, did not agree to get married. If Salauddin does not marry me, I will commit suicide in his house. ‘

Accused Salauddin said, “I fell in love with him and met him.” But did not get married, or have any physical relationship. He is coming to my house to cause me trouble.

Chandina police inspector (investigation) said. Nurul Bashar said, “After receiving the news, we went to the spot.” The girl is now at the boy’s house. We are keeping an eye on the matter as the family members have assured us to take action. Keeping in touch regularly.
The Appellate Division has rejected the state’s plea seeking cancellation of bail granted to Rashedul Karim, an NGO worker and local journalist arrested from Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. As a result, Rashedul Karim’s bail is still valid.

Teknaf police arrested Rashedul Karim on May 3, 2019 on charges of possessing firearms and 10,000 pieces of yaba. Rashedul was granted bail by the High Court on September 21 last year in a case filed in the incident. In this situation, the state appealed to the Appellate Division to cancel his bail. After the hearing yesterday, the Appellate Division dismissed the state’s application.
