He later sold the baby to a man named Mohammad Ismail in Sylhet for Rs 5,000.

Chittagong’s Kotwali police rescued eight-month-old Farhan from Bahubal area of ​​Habiganj in Sylhet on Monday night. Two people were arrested in the incident. They are Sultana and Ismail.

According to the family and the police, the child Farhan was stolen from his house on December 12 last year. Later, five thousand rupees was demanded from the family as ransom. Farhan’s poor family pays only 900 rupees through bKash. Sultana sold Farhan to Ismail of Bahubal in Habiganj for five thousand rupees without getting the money as demanded. A case was filed in this regard at Kotwali police station in Chittagong in December last year.

Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nezam Uddin told Prothom Alo on Tuesday that Sultana used to come to Naeem-Taslima’s house often as she had an acquaintance. He stole the baby Farhan and took it away. Bahubal later sold the baby to Ismail. She was raising the baby. Police rescued the child from Bahubal on the basis of secret information.

OC Nezam Uddin said the arrested Sultana needed to be questioned to find out whether she was involved in child trafficking. He will be taken to court for remand.

After rescuing the baby Farhan, the police handed him over to his mother Taslima this morning. After getting the child back, mother Taslima hugged him. Taslima works in people’s homes. Her husband Naeem drives an autorickshaw. They are very happy to have the child back.

Police officer Nezam Uddin has requested the parents to be vigilant so that no one can steal or abduct the child under the guise of caressing.
