A court has granted two-day remand to four accused, including two brothers from Sitakunda in Chittagong, arrested in a human trafficking case. Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Jihan Sanjidar granted the remand on Tuesday. The matter has been confirmed by the investigating officer of the case, Sitakunda police sub-inspector (SI) Harun Aur Rashid.
SI Harun Aur Rashid told Prothom Alo that the accused would be brought to the police station today, Wednesday or tomorrow, Thursday. Then the interrogation will begin.
Earlier on Sunday, the investigating officer of the case applied for a seven-day remand for questioning of the accused. On the same day, when the defense lawyers applied for bail, the court rejected their bail application and sent them to jail.
Alfai Al Hossain, returning to Croatia, sued them.
RAB arrested Moinul Hasan Chowdhury and his brother Kamrul Hasan Chowdhury from Amirabad area of Sitakunda Municipality on Thursday morning on charges of human trafficking by a man named Alfai Al Hossain, who had returned to Croatia. Nizam Uddin from Dharmapur village in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni and Jalal Uddin from Paltan area of Dhaka were arrested.
After handing over the arrested persons to the Sitakunda police station that night, Alfai Al Hossain became the plaintiff, naming 10 people and filing a case against 5 anonymous people at the Sitakunda police station under the Human Trafficking Act. Alfai Al Hossain is a resident of Muradpur Union, Sitakunda Upazila.
