The cocktail was recovered again from the front of the bridge minister’s village house

Police recovered two unexploded cocktails, two chocolate bombs and a cartridge from the roadside of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader’s house. The police of Kompaniganj police station recovered them on the basis of the information of the security guard of the house around 12 pm on Tuesday. However, the police could not arrest anyone in the incident till noon on Wednesday.

Earlier, a group of miscreants carried out a cocktail attack in front of the minister’s house on the night of April 18. According to local sources, his two younger brothers and relatives live in the village house of the bridge minister. Abdul Quader Mirza has not been home at night for several months. He lives in a room of Basurhat Municipality building.

Abdul Quader Mirza’s wife Akhter Jahan alias Bakul told Prothom Alo on her mobile phone this morning that she woke up at around 12pm last night. Then he heard who shot in front of the house. A few cocktails and bullet casings were recovered from there. He said the people of the house were terrified by the incident.

Shahdat Hossain, younger brother of the bridge minister, told Prothom Alo that he was ill. He is staying in Dhaka for treatment. He was told from the area who shot him in front of the house last night and carried out a cocktail attack. Police later recovered them in an unexploded state.

Officer-in-charge of Companiganj Police Station Mir Jahedul Haque told Prothom Alo that security guards of the minister’s house entered the house around 12pm and found four cocktails and a cartridge lying on the side of the road and on the side of Daganbhuna-Basurhat road. He and Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Shamim Hossain immediately rushed to the spot. They recovered two unexploded cocktails, two chocolate bombs and a cartridge.

Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Shamim Hossain told Prothom Alo that people in the area said they had not heard any noise. Cocktail and cartridge shells were found abandoned. A general diary (GD) has been kept at the police station in this incident. The incident is under investigation. However, no one was arrested in the incident till this afternoon.
