The largest infrastructure project in the country is the Padma Bridge. Last December, Prothom Alo magazine and online had organized a special event ‘6.15 km of expectation’ around the day of connection of the two sides of this bridge. Prothom Alo got international recognition for this event.
Prothom Alo has received an honorable mention in one category at the ‘Global Media Awards 2021’ organized by the International News Media Association (INMA). This is the first time that a Bangladeshi media outlet has been recognized at this prestigious award ceremony for the world’s newspapers, television, radio and other media. The award was announced through a virtual ceremony last Thursday.
Inma, a Dallas-based global organization in the United States, has been recognizing and awarding the world’s media since 1938. Inmar is a member of more than 800 media outlets in 7 countries. It is the largest organization in the world working with media businesses, brands and readers. This time, 56 media initiatives from 36 countries have been awarded at the Global Media Awards. The Best Local Show at the Global Media Awards 2021 has been won by the traditional German local media outlet Mitelberisheit Seitung. The Google News Initiative was the collaborator of this event.
The competition has been recognized as the first light in the ‘Best Idea to Grow Advertising Sales’ category. In this category, Hindustan Times of India won the first prize in the National Brand category, Independent News and Media of Ireland won the second prize and Food for Mansi of South Africa won the third prize. The Daily Bhaskar of India and the staff of New Zealand have received honorable recognition with Prothom Alo.
This time prizes were given in a total of 20 categories. Innovative and best practices of the world’s media, best use of media platforms, subscriptions, business development and data and insights are recognized. Inmar Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America and South Asia নির্বাচিত these six regions are considered regional best initiatives for the Global Media Awards. This year’s Global Media Awards received 644 applications from 212 newspapers, magazines, digital media, television and radio in 36 countries.
Earl J. Wilkinson, Inmar’s executive director and chief executive officer, said this year’s award was a different one for Covid. It has been seen that the media is now giving the most importance to news as well as data and subscriptions.
Last year, Prothom Alo won two awards in the South Asian Digital Media Awards organized by One-Ifra, another international media organization. Prothom Alo won a gold and a bronze medal at a ceremony held in Delhi, India on 16 February 2020.
