The youth fled after punching the police with handcuffs

Faridpur Alfadanga said. Barkat Sheikh (21) was handcuffed and taken away by the police. The handcuffed youth killed two policemen and fled with handcuffs. The incident took place in Dhuljuri area near Berirhat Bazar in Panchuria Union of Alfadanga Upazila around 6pm on Friday.

The young man escaped from the police with handcuffs. Son of Nizamuddin alias Manzur. However, the police have not been able to arrest the youth so far. Two policemen were injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment at Alfadanga Upazila Health Complex.   

Alamgir Hossain, a UP member of Panchuria Union’s Ward 5, who witnessed the incident, said policeman Manzur was holding the youth while he was handcuffed by Barkat. At the time, Barkat’s parents were requesting the police to release the boy. When people gathered at the time of the incident, at one stage Barkat punched SI Manjur Hossain in the forehead. Another SI said the police member Manzur was punched. Jamal Uddin actually came forward and punched him with his hand wearing Barkat handcuff. Later, Jamaluddin was taken to the local Berirhat Bazar village doctor Maruf Sardar for first aid. After a while, it is known, said while wearing handcuffs. Barkat Sheikh escaped. He could not say what happened later. 

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Alfadanga Police Station Mohammad Wahiduzzaman said the three warring parties had been fighting and vandalizing the village of Berirhati-Dhuljuri in Panchuria Union for a long time. That is why some people of the three groups were heard gathering at different places in the village on Friday evening during the Berirhat Bazaar. At one stage, there was an allegation of beating a person in the area in the name of Barkat. Upon hearing the news, the police reached the spot, arrested the youth and handcuffed him. At that time, Barkat’s men snatched him from the police with a handcuff.
