Two and a half years after the final report in a murder case was filed in Bogra, an organized group of killers came out in the investigation of the Bureau of Investigation (PBI). One of the accused also gave a confessional statement in the court on Friday. According to him, the police have arrested three more people involved in the murder. PBI Bogra District Superintendent of Police Akramul Hossain said this at a press conference on Saturday afternoon.
According to the police, a man named Shahin of Shibganj was killed on the night of June 11, 2016 in Kahalu Upazila. Police recovered his body the next morning. Later, his wife Nur Banu became a plaintiff and filed a case against the unidentified accused at Kahalu police station.
In this case, Kahalu police first gave the responsibility to Inspector Anisur Rahman. A few days later, the investigation officer was changed to Mahmud Hasan, the then OC (Inspector) of Kahalu Police Station. At the end of the investigation, he submitted the final report in the case (no killer was found) two and a half years ago.
Asked about giving the final report, Mahmud Hasan said, “I did not find any clue in the case after investigation. This is my failure. The PBI has found it to be their success. I have nothing more to say. ‘
Following the final report, the court voluntarily assigned the PBI to investigate the case. Later, PBI SI Akram Hossain was given the charge of investigating the case. After a long investigation, he arrested those involved in the murder.
Police said at a press conference that Ripon Sardar of Kahalu Khamarpara area was arrested as a suspect on June 2 after a long search. He later confessed to the police that he had killed Shaheen. When questioned, he named three more people involved in the killings. They are Abul Kalam Azad alias Tara Mia, Sohrab Hossain and Anisur Rahman Papon of Naitipara area of Kahalu. On the day of the murder, Shahin and five others went to a house in Kahalu upazila to steal. The owner of the house is Ripon’s uncle Akhtar alias Bulu. Shaheen was killed in his house to endanger Bulu in greed for 9 bighas of land. Ripon and Tara Mia had planned to frame Bulu in this murder case.
PBI Superintendent of Police Akramul Hossain said it took a long time to investigate the clue-less murder case. This is a big achievement of PBI.
