A young man named Nasir Hossain (28) was hacked to death by the opposition people in a trivial incident in Singair of Manikganj. The brutal killing took place at the East Basta bus stand on the Hemayetpur-Singair-Manikganj regional road around 7:30 pm on Wednesday (June 9). The deceased was identified as Nasir, son of Ishaq Miah of the area. He traded in groceries. The case is being prepared.
According to family and local sources, Nasir Hossain’s cousin Ariful Islam, 14, and Kamrul Islam, 20, son of Kala Mia of the same village, had a quarrel over a trivial incident on Tuesday (June 8). At one stage, Ariful Islam was beaten by Kamrul Islam and his men. On the same day, Ariful Islam went to Kamrul Islam’s house with his cousins Basir and Sabbir to seek justice for the incident. They were also beaten and humiliated there. Tensions between the two sides have been high since the incident.
Meanwhile, around 7:30 pm on Wednesday (June 9), 10-12 people, including Kamrul Islam and his cousin Lavu, attacked Ariful Islam and his family members, including his cousin Nasir Hossain, with sharp weapons and sticks. This led to clashes between the people on both sides. At least five people, including Nasir Hossain and Lavu, were injured in the clash. The injured were rushed to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital in Dhaka by their relatives. Among them, Nasir Hossain, who was seriously injured by the sharp weapon of the opponent, died at 9 pm while undergoing treatment.
Upon receiving the news, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Singair Circle) Reazul Haque and Inspector of Police (OC) Safiqul Islam Mollah along with other police personnel rushed to the spot.
Police Inspector (OC) Shafiqul Islam Mollah confirmed the incident and said the body of Nasir Hossain was recovered and sent to District Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The family is preparing for the murder case. He said police were working to arrest those involved in the killings.
