PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline: The government has extended the last date for linking PAN and Aadhaar by three months. That is, now citizens will have time till 30 September 2021 to link PAN and Aadhar card. This announcement was made by the Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur (Anurag Thakur) on Friday evening. Now this deadline was 30 June 2021. Let us tell you that if you do not link PAN and Aadhaar by the deadline set by the government, then your PAN will become inoperative. Through inoperative PAN, a person will not be able to do financial transactions where PAN is required to be mentioned. Also you will have to pay fine.
New provision of fine of 1000 rupees
For non-linking of PAN and Aadhaar, a provision of fine up to Rs 1000 has been made under the new section 234H added in the Income Tax Act, 1961. The government has done this through the Finance Bill 2021, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on 23 March. Under the new provision added in the Income Tax Act, the government will decide the amount of penalty for non-linking of PAN and Aadhaar by the specified deadline. This fine shall not exceed Rs.1000/-.

Penalty is applicable even if PAN is inactive
If the person’s PAN becomes inoperative, then there is a provision of penalty on that also. Actually, if your PAN card becomes inactive, then it will be assumed that the PAN has not been furnished/quoted as per the law. In such a situation, you can be fined Rs 10000 under section 272B of the Income Tax Act.
