With the all-party meeting on Jammu and Kashmir concluding, the cabinet reshuffle has once again gained momentum. 27 probable leaders including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sushil Modi, Sarbananda Sonowal, Narayan Rane and Bhupendra Yadav could be part of the massive reshuffle of the Union Cabinet.
Among the new ministers likely to be sworn-in in the Narendra Modi government include former Madhya Pradesh Congress veteran Scindia, who is now in the BJP. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi, BJP’s senior organization party general secretary, Bhupendra Yadav from Rajasthan and Kailash Vijayvargiya from Madhya Pradesh, who was in charge of BJP’s campaign in West Bengal. BJP spokesperson and minority face Syed Zafar Islam may also play a role in the central government.
Apart from former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and former Maharashtra CM Narayan Rane, Maharashtra Beed MP Pritam Munde and Gopinath Munde’s daughter are in the reshuffled list of candidates in the master list. BJP UP chief Swatantra Dev Singh from Uttar Pradesh, of course Pankaj Choudhary, MP from Maharajganj, Varun Gandhi and alliance partner Anupriya Patel are among the probables.
Rajya Sabha MP Anil Jain, Odisha MPs, Ashwini Vaishnav and Baijayant Panda, former Bengal Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi are also in the list. Jain is also the President of All India Tennis Association. In the Modi government from Rajasthan, former Union Minister P.P. Chaudhary, the youngest MP of the state from Churu, Rahul Kaswan and Sikar MP Sumedhanand Saraswati are also among these potential. The only entry from Delhi could be New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi.
Amid significant churning in Bihar, Pashupati Paras, who rebelled against Chirag Paswan, is likely to get a central seat from the LJP. In the same way, the nomination of JDU is going to the R.C.P. Singh and Santosh Kumar are also in this list. Karnataka may be represented by Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Gujarat BJP President C.R. Patil is heading towards the government along with Ahmedabad West MP Kirit Solanki.
From Haryana, Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal, a former income tax officer, is also among the probables. Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, who impressed with his Parliament speech, is also being considered. The reshuffle is necessitating the untimely demise of leaders like Ram Vilas Paswan and Suresh Angadi and some vacancies due to the exit of the Akali Dal and Shiv Sena.
The upcoming election in UP is a factor in the reshuffle and with the entry of a strong organizational face Bhupendra Yadav, some additional faces need to be added to the government. This will be the first such reshuffle cum expansion since PM Modi came to power in 2019.
