Police on Sunday arrested a man for forcing his wife and children to convert to religion in a village under Khakhreru police station area in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Kumar said that a woman from Purmai village of Khakhreru police station had lodged a complaint with the police that her husband Vijay Sonkar was pressurizing the children and her to convert to Muslim religion.
The ASP said that on the complaint of the woman, the Khakhreru police station has arrested Vijay Sonkar, a truck driver by profession, on Sunday. He told that during interrogation, Vijay told the police that he drives a truck with a Muslim friend of his and influenced by the friend, he had converted to Hinduism and accepted Muslim religion.

Rajesh Kumar said, “The accused Vijay has admitted to pressurizing his wife and children to convert to Muslim religion. Police have arrested him after registering a case under relevant sections and are taking further action.”
