1987 batch IPS officer Mukul Goyal has been made the new DGP of Uttar Pradesh. At present, Mukul Goyal is posted as ADG BSF. Goyal’s name was announced late Wednesday evening. Earlier, Goyal had also met CM Yogi on Tuesday evening. Since then there was talk of stamping his name.

Mukul Goyal, a 1987 batch IPS officer, is originally from Muzaffarnagar, UP. Mukul Goyal is a BTech from IIT Delhi and also an MBA. During his tenure of UP, he has been posted as SP of Azamgarh and SSP in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Saharanpur, Meerut. Mukul Goyal has also been the DIG of Kanpur, Agra, Bareilly range and IG of Bareilly zone. Apart from this, Mukul Goyal has also worked in ITBP, BSF, NDRF at the center.
Mukul Goyal has also been associated with controversies
Talking about the controversial issues related to IPS Mukul, he was suspended in 2000 after the murder of BJP MLA Nirbhay Pal Singh during his posting in Saharanpur as SSP. In 2006, there was a massive police recruitment going on in UP, during which Mukul Goel was posted in Agra as DIG and was the head of the recruitment board there. Mukul Goel and Daljit Choudhary had gone to the Center on deputation in 2007, when the Mayawati government came to power, when the suspension of officers and registration of cases in these cases began.
After returning to power in 2012, the Samajwadi Party government withdrew all the cases. There will be no program on the farewell of the current DGP, according to DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, no farewell ceremony will be organized on his retirement. Actually, a rathik parade is organized on the retirement of the DGP, which HC Awasthi has refused due to Corona. The current DGP HC Awasthi is retiring today i.e. on June 30.
