- Petrol price hiked again today
- Petrol price hiked by 35 paise per liter
- No change in diesel price today
- Signs of softening in the price of crude oil in the international market
The decisions of state-run oil companies (Oil PSUs) are sometimes incomprehensible. Similar decisions are being taken in the last few days. When the price of crude oil increases, then the price of both petrol and diesel increases. It is costlier to extract diesel in refinery than petrol. Even then these companies are increasing the price of petrol a lot but showing kindness on diesel. Today in the domestic market, government oil companies (Oil PSUs) made a sharp increase of 35 paise per liter in petrol prices in Delhi. But, did not even touch the diesel. Yesterday also, there was a sharp increase of 35 paise in petrol while by only 18 paise in diesel. Earlier on Friday, only petrol prices had increased. Petrol at the Indian Oil (IOC) pump in Delhi Market on Monday jumped to Rs 99.86 per liter. Whereas diesel is stable at Rs 89.36 per liter.
Petrol has become costlier by Rs 9.54 in 36 days
It has been observed that when there is an important election, the prices of petrol and diesel (Petrol Diesel Price) does not increase. Due to the process of assembly elections in many states, there was no increase in petrol prices in March and April. Therefore, there was no increase in the price of petrol and diesel even after crude oil became expensive during that time. But, since May 4, its prices have increased a lot. Petrol has become costlier by Rs 9.54 per liter in just 36 days, sometimes continuously or by stopping.

The Election Commission had issued a notification on February 26 for the assembly elections in five states. After this, state-owned oil companies last increased the price of diesel by 17 paise per liter on 27 February 2021. After this, there was no increase in its price for more than two months. After the election, it started increasing intermittently from May 4 onwards. It is generally seen that the day the price of petrol increases, the price of diesel also increases on the same day. But on Friday, July 2, 2021, only petrol prices had increased. Diesel prices did not increase. Similarly, only the price of petrol increased while that of diesel remained stable. In this way, the price of diesel has increased for 34 days and it has become costlier by Rs 8.57 per liter in these days.

Crude oil marginally soft at the beginning of the week
Last week OPEC countries met in Vienna. In it, a decision was to be taken on increasing the production of crude oil during the coming August to December. But no decision could be taken even after the meeting which lasted for 11 hours. This led to a disappointing situation in the crude oil market. However, there was a slight rise in its price due to the continuous decrease in Crude Oil Inventory in America. Crude oil softened marginally at the start of trading in the Singapore market on Monday. At that time, Brent crude was trading at $ 76.00 per barrel, which is $ 0.17 less than the previous weekend. Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate or WTI Crude was trading lower by $ 0.15 at $ 75.01 per barrel.
