Brad Hogg thinks Mahendra Singh Dhoni Chennai Super Kings You can become a coach. Hogg says that if the team does not retain him in 2022, then Dhoni can be seen in the role of coach. The Australian spinner has called Dhoni the ‘Maharaja’ of Chennai Super Kings. He has claimed that this charismatic captain will not leave the side of the franchise.
Hogg said this while answering a fan’s question on Twitter. Fan asked him about Dhoni’s future. The fan had asked what would be the future of the former Indian captain if CSK did not retain him before the mega auction.
On Monday, the news came that there could be a mega auction of IPL by the end of this year. Along with this, information about the rules for retaining players also came to the fore.
Our affiliate newspaper Times of India had reported that the franchise would be allowed to retain three Indians plus one foreigner or two Indians and two foreign players. After this, many fans on Twitter started predicting the names of the players who could be retained by the Chennai team.
Dhoni has been associated with Chennai Super Kings since the inception of IPL. He is an icon for the Chennai team. But speculation has started on Dhoni’s future in the upcoming auction. According to the new IPL retention rules, the Chennai team will have to pay an amount of Rs 12.5-15 crore if Mahendra Singh Dhoni is retained in the team.
Dhoni will turn 40 on 7 July 2021. Along with this, spending such amount on a player of this age for the entire phase of three years will also be a matter of deep contemplation for the team management.
However, there is no question about Dhoni’s captaincy. But as a batsman, Mahi no longer sees that old complexion. For the last two IPL seasons, his bat is not able to score special runs. He is not able to strike the ball well. Many times he sends many power-hitters above himself in the batting order.
After this there is speculation that age is no longer with Dhoni. In such a situation, he can be seen as a mentor or coach in the coming years.
