The cloud of apprehension surrounding the recognition of the vaccine at the international level may soon dissipate. Bharat Biotech submits all documents for emergency use of Covaccine World Health Organization (WHO) has been submitted. If everything goes well, soon the WHO will approve it for emergency use.
Giving information on Monday, Bharat Biotech said, ‘All the documents related to the Emergency Use Listing (EUL) of the vaccine have been submitted to the WHO by 9 July. Now the process of review is going on and we are hopeful that it will get emergency use approval soon. According to WHO guidelines, EUL is a process by which new or unlicensed products can be used in public health emergencies.
In this process, approval requires a company to complete Phase III trials and submit all data to WHO’s regulatory department, which is studied by an expert advisory group. Earlier, World Health Organization expert Soumya Swaminathan had said that a decision on whether to approve the emergency use of the vaccine is expected within 4 to 6 weeks. WHO has so far approved 6 corona vaccines for emergency use.
