OHCHR interfering despite Supreme Court order
On June 7 this year, the Supreme Court after hearing had ordered to make the forest land completely encroachment free. After which the administration issued a policy of rehabilitation of the people living here and directed them to leave their homes. However, a large number of people do not agree with the resettlement policy of the government. Despite that the land was designated as a protected forest in 1992. There was no forest here before. We urge the Indian government to respect its own laws and its goal of ending homelessness by 2022.’ These experts also said that most of the migrating families are minorities and marginalized communities. We appeal to spare the homes of these one lakh people.

Why did the UNHRC jump into India’s case?
The United Nations Human Rights Office has jumped into many internal matters of India in the past. This UN office had made false allegations of human rights violations on India regarding the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Not only this, the UNHRC had issued a statement about the farmers’ movement without knowing the truth. India has also strongly opposed the statements of this office from time to time.
