In Ganjbasoda of Vidisha district, 120 km from Bhopal, the rescue operation to rescue the people who fell in the well ended late on Friday evening. In the operation that lasted for 24 hours, 20 people were safely rescued while the bodies of 11 people were pulled out from the well. Expressing grief over the accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an amount of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of those killed.

The rescue operation started shortly after the accident at around 6.30 pm on Thursday. To save the 10-year-old child, whose body was finally pulled out of the well, this accident happened. All the 20 people who were rescued in the accident have been admitted to the hospital. The condition of all is said to be stable.

In a tweet from the Prime Minister’s Office, it was said that they are deeply saddened by the Vidisha accident. Expressing condolences to the deceased, it has been said in the tweet that an assistance of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund will be given to the families of the deceased.

The accident took place on Thursday evening when more than 25 people fell in a well after the bund in it collapsed. Immediately after this, relief work was started to rescue the people. Local police and administration teams along with NDRF and SDRF were involved in the rescue work. Hours after the incident, Vidisha district in-charge minister Vishwas Sarang also reached the spot. He remained there till the end. After the rescue operation was over, Sarang got the people involved in it to talk to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. CM thanked everyone.

On the other hand, the opposition party Congress has targeted the government over the accident. Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath has accused the police and administration of negligence. He tweeted that if the police-administration had been active on receiving the complaint, the accident could have been averted. He has demanded from the state government a government job and a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to a family member of the deceased.
