Similar cases have been reported in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Income Tax Department has seized property worth crores of rupees from those selling paan, crisps and samosas in handcarts here.
Junk sellers are also no less, there have been cases of them having priceless wealth. In the investigation of Big Data software and GST registration of Income Tax Department, 256 such ‘poor’ crorepatis have been found.
Properties in Posh areas of Kanpur
Officials said that these hawkers and sellers of junk do not pay GST. They do not even pay tax to the Income Tax Department but are millionaires. During investigation, properties of these people have been found in posh areas like Aryanagar, Swaroop Nagar, Birhana Road, Hulaganj, Pirod, Gumti in Kanpur.
One lakh rent for plying
Investigation revealed that there are many handcarts of famous crispy sellers in Mallroad. It is paying rent of more than one lakh rupees for plying at different places. Many junkies have bought properties worth crores of rupees.
