Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that there is no opportunity to associate any fictitious or emerging organization with the Awami League outside the recognized organization as per the constitution.
He made the remarks at a briefing at his official residence here on Sunday (July 25).
Obaidul Quader said, “When the party is in power, the various privileged classes and the cuckoos of spring are engaged in such efforts, adding various weeds and parasites.” He said, “According to the announcement of the party president, if any member of the party is found to be involved in such activities openly or secretly, immediate organizational action will be taken against them.” Administrative action will be taken against those who try to gain personal interest by discrediting the name of the party.
Obaidul Quader further said that there is no opportunity to get involved in the politics of Awami League by adding the word ‘League’ or ‘Awami’ with any name outside the recognized organization. He said, ‘According to the provisions of the party’s constitution, the Awami League has allies, fraternal organizations and various sub-committees. According to the constitution, there is no opportunity for any fabricated or suddenly emerging organization to be associated with the Awami League.
The general secretary of Awami League said, ‘Padma bridge is a symbol of our ability. This bridge is the golden crop of courage of Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina. He said, “There have been various conspiracies since the initiative was taken to build the Padma Bridge. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina broke the barrier of visible and invisible conspiracies and started the construction of Padma bridge with her own funds.
The bridge minister said, “Since the start of the construction work, various rumors and propaganda have been going on by an anti-national and anti-development evil force.” After overcoming various man-made obstacles and conspiracies and natural disasters, the Padma Bridge of dreams is now visible in the heart of Pramatta Padma under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
The bridge minister said the progress of the construction of the main infrastructure of the Padma Bridge is 94 percent till July 24, and the overall progress of the bridge project is 8 percent.
The bridge minister also spoke about a ferry hitting a pillar of the Padma Bridge on July 23 while traveling in the river. He said, ‘The weight of the hit ferry was 1284 tons. According to the design of the Padma Bridge, each pillar has the capacity to handle the impact of a vessel weighing 4,000 tons at a speed of 30 nautical miles.
Immediately after the incident, engineers of Bangladesh Bridge Authority, members of technical committee, consultants and a delegation of construction companies visited the site.
Obaidul Quader said, “Two people have already been arrested, including the master driver of the ferry.” There has been a conspiracy against this bridge of pride before, it cannot be said for sure that it is not there yet.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent 1,000 kg of ‘Haribhanga’ mangoes to Sultan Haji Hassan Al-Balkiyah Mu’izzuddin Wad Daulah Ibn Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Sa’dul Khairi Waddin of Brunei Darussalam as a greeting gift. The Bangladesh Mission in Brunei has confirmed this information in a message today.
The message said that on July 24, the mangoes were handed over by the Bangladesh High Commission to the State Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brunei. The mangoes were then taken directly to the Sultan of the country, Istana Nurul Iman.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had sent ‘Haribhanga’ mangoes to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
