Crowds of vehicles and people are increasing on the two highways in Gazipur

At the beginning of the strict restrictions announced by the government, no vehicles or people were seen on the roads and highways of Gazipur. However, the crowd of vehicles and hats has increased on the highway on Monday. Although there are police check posts at different points of Dhaka-Tangail and Dhaka-Mymensingh highways, people are moving on various pretexts.

Hundreds of people were seen shopping at the Joydevpur Raw Market in Gazipur this morning. There is no hygiene problem, not even a face mask for many. The same situation has been seen in Harinal Bazar, Chatar Bazar, Chandna Chowrasta, Bhogra Sabji Arat, Konabari Bazar and several other nearby markets.

Talking to Sohrab Hossain, a resident of Laxmipura area, at Joydebpur Raw Market. He said, ‘The amount of market that was at home is already over. So today I have come to buy vegetables and some fish. ‘

Sabuj Hossain of Bilashpur area said, ‘When the market is over, you have to get out of the house. If you stay at home, who will take you to the market? ‘ Why not wear a mask? When asked, he said, “I forgot when I left home.”

On the other hand, on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, more vehicles were seen plying in the Chandna crossroads area of Gazipur than before. Even though there is no passenger transport, trucks, pickups and autorickshaws are plying the highways. People are trying to enter Dhaka by evading police checkposts on the highway and showing various excuses. Due to this the movement of people has also increased. Most say they have to go to Dhaka to save their jobs.

Azahar Ali was talking at the check post in Chandna Chowrasta area. He said work began in his office on Sunday. He repeatedly called from the office and asked to join the work. Due to this he is going to Dhaka by autorickshaw.

Konabari Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Golam Faruk said the number of trucks carrying goods, small vehicles and motorcycles has increased on the highway. However, rickshaws are being detained every day to stop the movement of rickshaws. And the motorcyclists are leaving with various excuses.

Gazipur Metropolitan Assistant Commissioner (Traffic Division) Mehedi Hasan said the movement of people has increased more than before. People are traveling on foot. Even if vehicles can be stopped, so many people are not going to be stopped. However, the activities of the police are the same as before. No vehicle is allowed to proceed without interrogation.
