Information and Broadcasting Minister said that the kind of fear that people had at the beginning of Corona is no more. Hasan Mahmud. He said the BNP had said that a strict lockdown was needed in the country. After giving the lockdown again, he says, this lockdown is unplanned.
He was responding to a question from reporters on contemporary issues in the conference room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at noon on Monday (July 26).
Expressing frustration over the participation of the general public in accepting the lockdown, the Information Minister called on the members of the law enforcement agencies to be more strict. Asked for his opinion on the matter, he said, “I think the kind of fear that people had at the beginning of Corona is no longer there. In the last one year, in the context of not spreading corona in the village, an idea was born among the people of the village that corona will never come to the village. But now 80 per cent of the patients being admitted to city hospitals are coming from villages. Now Corona has spread all over the country. Therefore, I request everyone to follow the hygiene rules. It is necessary to follow the lockdown and hygiene rules for one’s own benefit.
The information minister said, ‘I have to give my own protection. No one else can protect me. Therefore, I humbly request that we all abide by the government’s instructions and hygiene rules.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “The government is becoming more and more violent day by day with a one-sided decision ignoring public opinion. As a result, the suffering of the people has increased. Asked about this, the Information Minister said, “In fact, the BNP has shown violence in Bangladesh in the past. Especially in 2013, 14 and 15 the way people were killed by throwing petrol bombs. Many people have been burned, many have been crippled. Bangladesh has never seen the politics of this violence before. No one in the world has seen people being burned to death in this way due to politics in contemporary times. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir himself engaged in the politics of violence. That is why he said these words.
In response to a question, Hassan Mahmood said, “Now if someone in a lockdown is arrested for a criminal offense, can’t he be arrested if he belongs to a party and if he is accused in a criminal case?” My question is, why did Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir take the side of the criminal accused? ‘
Mentioning that the BNP has said different things about the lockdown at different times, the Information Minister said, ‘Before giving the lockdown, the BNP had said that there should be a strict lockdown in the country. After giving the lockdown again, he says, this lockdown is unplanned. So, according to them, what is planned is not a prescription.
He said, ‘Don’t do it in Bangladesh for almost a year and a half today. At that time not a single person in the country died of starvation and there is no wailing in the country.
He said this difficulty is temporary. The lockdown does not have to be prolonged if everyone follows the hygiene rules properly.
Hasan Mahmud further said, “BNP talks about all these issues but in 2013, 14 and 15 they called for a 156-day strike blockade. Then the people had difficulty, it was not in the head? They held the people captive for 156 days. Today we have to give lockdown to save people’s lives. This method has been adopted not only in Bangladesh but in all countries of the world. But what is the answer to the fact that BNP held people captive for 156 days in 13, 14 and 15?
