The cyber cell of the northern district has arrested a cyber thug, who cleverly duped people of many states on Instagram. The accused has been identified as Yogesh Tiwari (22) resident of Hill Colony Part-1, Faridabad. The accused has created an Instagram page by the name of Phonofi, which has more than 1,04,000 followers. Followers and promos were also bought on Instagram. Due to so many followers, people used to trust as a verified account and get caught in its clutches. The accused used to pretend to sell 1.25 lakh iPhone 12 Pro from Instagram for Rs 25,000.
Similarly, a person from Delhi became a victim of fraud. When the cyber cell registered a case and started investigation, the clue was found from a YouTuber from Chennai. After which the police arrested the accused from Faridabad. Four mobiles, 9 SIM cards and a bullet bike purchased with the cheated money have been recovered from the possession of the accused.

According to DCP Anto Alphonse, 5 days ago a woman resident of Malkaganj had complained that she saw an advertisement on the Instagram page named Phonofi. There the iPhone 12 Pro was being sold for Rs 25,000. Whereas, its actual price was Rs 1,25,000. He contacted on Instagram and the WhatsApp number given on it. 24,290 rupees were also paid in the account of online phonofi. After several days of waiting, the woman again contacted Phonofi. The woman was shocked as she was blocked on Instagram and WhatsApp. Cyber Cell Incharge SI Rohit Saraswat, ASI Rajiv, Head Constable Narendra, Constable Prakash and Naveen started investigation under the supervision of ACP Jaipal Singh.
The location of the number given on the Instagram page was found in Faridabad, but the original address of the SIM was from Bihar. The team checked the call details and online payment details. The team also found a YouTube video. In which a person from Chennai asked people to be alert about the fraud of Instagram page. The links of the account started adding up with important clues. The accused Yogesh Tiwari was caught from Faridabad after the raid.

During interrogation, it was found that accused Yogesh is only 12th pass and is techno-friendly. Yogesh used to download and upload pictures and videos of iPhone to Instagram at discounted rates. He used to cheat the people who got caught. Earlier, he used to buy Chinese iPhones from Ghaffar Market and send it to the cheated people. Later he also stopped sending mobile phones. The accused has been committing fraud with many people from different states in the same way. Many mobile numbers of different states have also been found in the call details, which are suspected to be victims.
