Indian female archers Deepika Kumari She defeated American Jennifer Fernandez Muccino in the second round of the women’s individual archery event at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics here. Deepika made it to the second round by defeating Karma of Bhutan.

Dipika defeated Karma 6-0 in a one-sided fashion and secured a place in Round-16. She continued her performance in the second round as well, beating Jennifer 6-4. Deepika lost the first set in Round-16 but then came back strongly to win the next two sets.
Tarundeep Rai and Praveen Jadhav lost
In the fourth set, Deepika once again fell behind but by winning the fifth and deciding set, she also overcame this obstacle and took another step towards the medal. Before Deepika, India’s male archers Tarundeep Rai and Praveen Jadhav also made it to the second round by winning the first round match.
Medal hopes up
But both these archers had to face defeat in Round-16. After the failure of the male archers, it was Deepika’s responsibility to keep her medal hopes alive, which she did well in Round 16.
