On the back of the superb bowling of Wanindu Hasaranga (4/9), Sri Lanka defeated R. In the third and last T20 match of the series being played at Premadasa Stadium, the Indian team was restricted to 81 runs. India won the toss and decided to bat first in this match. But none of his batsmen could show amazing and the team could only score 81 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs.
Only three Indian batsmen reached double digits, with Kuldeep Yadav at number seven scoring the highest 23 not out. Kuldeep remained at the crease for 11 overs as India managed to play the full 20 overs and cross their lowest score (74 runs, vs Australia, 2008). This is India’s lowest score in T20 after playing full 20 overs. Only four boundaries were hit from India’s side.
Kuldeep Yadav scored the highest 23 runs in 28 balls for Team India. Apart from Hasaranga, captain Dasun Shanaka took two wickets while Ramesh Mendis and Dushmanta Chamira got one wicket each. Batting first, India got off to a poor start as captain Shikhar Dhawan (0), Devdutt Padikkal (9), Sanju Samson (0), Rituraj Gaikwad (14) and Nitish Rana (6) took the wickets of just 36 runs. Just lost.
After this Bhuvneshwar Kumar also returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs in 32 balls. Shanaka then dismissed Rahul Chahar, who scored five runs off five balls with the help of a four. Varun Chakravarthy (0) was dismissed as the eighth batsman soon after Rahul’s dismissal while Chetan Sakaria remained unbeaten on five off nine balls.
