Rail traffic has been badly affected in Punjab due to the farmers’ agitation. Farmers on Friday began an indefinite protest in Jalandhar and blocked the movement of trains on the Ludhiana-Amritsar and Ludhiana-Jammu rail routes to pressurize the Punjab government to raise sugarcane prices and issues related to payment of arrears. The cancellation of trains has caused a lot of inconvenience to the passengers.
According to Northern Railway, 83 trains have been affected due to farmers’ agitation. Of these, 48 trains running on 22nd and 23rd August have been completely cancelled, 23 trains partially canceled while 12 trains have been diverted. The list of canceled trains list is as follows..
