Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government, giving good news to 28 lakh government employees and pensioners of the state, has approved the proposal to give Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) at an increased rate of 11 percent from July 1. After this 11 percent increase, the DA of the employees will be 28 percent. At present, DA was being paid at the rate of 17 per cent. About 16 lakh state employees and 12 lakh pensioners will get the benefit.

In fact, during the monsoon session, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced the payment of dearness allowance and dearness relief in the assembly. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, from July 1, 2021, dearness allowance will be increased from 17% of the basic pay to 28%. The increased amount will be paid in cash from August 1, 2021. The balance amount due for July will be deposited in the provident fund account of the employees.

The government had imposed a ban during the Corona period
In fact, in view of the economic condition of the state during the Kovid period, the Yogi government had issued a mandate on 24 April 2020. Under this, from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, the payment of dearness allowance to state employees and dearness relief to pensioners was stopped at an increased rate. Therefore, the additional installments of DA and DR due on 1 January 2020, 1 July 2020 and 1 January 2021 were not paid.

State employees were waiting for a long time
The Modi government at the Center last month issued an order to pay DA at the rate of 28 percent, with the removal of the ban on the payment of DA-DR at the increased rate of its employees. On this basis, the state employees were also waiting to get DA at the rate of 28 per cent since July 1. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the proposal of the Finance Department.
