- Yogi government changed the name of Allahabad district to Prayagraj

In Uttar Pradesh, there has been a demand to change the names of districts since Faizabad was changed to Ayodhya and Prayagraj to Allahabad. Now before the UP assembly elections, the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to change the name of Sultanpur to Kush Bhawanpur. The name of the son of Lord Shri Ram was Kush.
A senior official of the Board of Revenue has confirmed the news that Sultanpur may be renamed Kush. He said that the proposal to change the name of the district has reached the state government. Soon it can get approval from the cabinet.
BJP MLA raised the matter
BJP MLA from Lambhua (Sultanpur) Devmani Dwivedi raised this issue in the assembly. He claimed that the ancient name of Sultanpur was Kush. After the MLA raised the issue, the discussion on changing the name of the district started.
Ancient history cited in the gazetteer
The District Magistrate of Sultanpur and the Divisional Commissioner of Ayodhya has sent a recommendation in the gazetteer to the state government and the Board of Revenue to rename the district as Kush Bhavanpur, citing the ancient history of Sultanpur.
Maneka Gandhi is MP
If the proposal is accepted, Sultanpur will be the third district whose name will be changed by the Yogi Adityanath government. Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency is represented by former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi.
