The exercise to rename Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh has been going on for more than two years. After the report sent by the district administration four months ago, now the government has started preparing to approve it. There are speculations that the Yogi government will change the name of the district before the elections and get it cashed as vote bank.
The proposal was first passed in the meeting of the municipal board
Let us tell you that in the first meeting of the Municipal Board in the year 2018, the proposal to change the name of Sultanpur to Kushbhavanpur was passed. Shaurya Foundation had submitted a letter along with a book to the then Governor Ram Naik, who reached Sultanpur in March 2019, requesting to rename Sultanpur as Kushbhawanpur. On 28 March 2019, the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Ram Naik also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath.
The issue was raised in the house
There, from Lambua BJP MLA Devmani Dwivedi In the year 2019, it was also discussed in the House under section 103. Recently, he had recommended three more BJP MLAs from Sultanpur to the Chief Minister. BJP MLA Devmani said that the Sultanpur district adjacent to Ayodhya was settled by Lord Shri Ram’s son Kush and it was known as Kushbhavanpur. This was where Sitaji stayed, in her memory there is still Sitakund Ghat. It is also mentioned in the Gazetteer of Sultanpur that its name was Kushbhavanpur itself. It was renamed by the Mughals at that time. In such a situation, where there will be a feeling of pride due to its old name, then the cultural importance will also increase.
BJP spokesperson Vijay Raghuvanshi said that former Union Minister and BJP MP Maneka Gandhi has also supported the renaming of Sultanpur. Taking cognizance of the matter, the government had summoned a report. On which about four months ago, DM Ravish Gupta had sent the report to the commissionerate citing the gazetteer. Now the same has been sent to the government after taking cognizance of the Revenue Council.
