The ride-sharing service has banned passenger transport by motorcycle. For now, the ban will remain in place for the next two weeks or until further notice.
The government’s Department of Road Transport and Highways said this on Wednesday, citing a notification from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Bimalendu Chakma, deputy director of the Road Transport and Highways Department, said the government has taken a number of decisions on public transport in the current situation of coronavirus infection.
According to the decision, hygiene rules must be followed in public transport. No more than 50 per cent of the capacity can be transported. Passenger transport on motorcycles will be closed for two weeks for the time being. And in the case of passenger transport in other motor vehicles, 50 per cent of the capacity should be strictly followed in the transport and hygiene guidelines.
