Police have arrested a 24-year-old Madrasa teacher in Bagatipara, Natore, for allegedly posting a video insulting the Prime Minister on Facebook.
He was arrested from Sonapur Madinatul Hafizia Madrasa in the upazila on Tuesday (March 30) night. Earlier, Ansar Ali filed a case under the Digital Security Act against four or five other unidentified persons, including the teacher. The arrested teacher Al Amin is the son of Mostafizur Rahman of Kellakushi village in Sherpur upazila of Bogra.
Bagatipara Model Police Station OC (Investigation) Abu Sadat said Ashraful Islam Mukul, headmaster of Qawmi Madrasa, had spoken out against the police administration and Chhatra League in support of Hifazat-e-Islam’s strike. Al-Amin, an assistant teacher at the same madrassa, posted a video of the speech on his Facebook ID. Police arrested Al Amin after a local plaintiff named Ansar Ali filed a case under the Digital Security Act. He was remanded in custody on Wednesday, the day after his arrest.
Police have remanded Saurabh Chowdhury, 24, a student of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), who was arrested for making indecent remarks aimed at the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Facebook. Monday (March 29) at noon, Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate. Helaluddin’s court granted the remand.
Chittagong Assistant Superintendent of Police (Raozan-Rangunia Circle) confirmed the matter. Anwar Hossain Shamim. He said the accused in the case filed under the Digital Security Act, Sourav Chowdhury, was remanded for three days for questioning. After a hearing, the wise court granted a two-day remand.

Sunday (March 21) at 4 am Chittagong Assistant Superintendent of Police (Raozan-Rangunia Circle) said. Raozan police led by Anwar Hossain Shamim raided the North Nalapara area of Chittagong metropolis and arrested him. Later, on the basis of previous news, they raided the 6th floor of the building and arrested Sourav along with his used smartphone. Besides Circle ASP, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raozan Police Station Abdullah Al Harun and Second Officer Ajay Deb were also present on the occasion. Police have filed a case against the arrested Sourav Chowdhury under the Digital Security Act at Raozan Police Station.
According to the relevant sources, Sourav Chowdhury, a final year student of the civil engineering department of CUET, made indecent remarks about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on social media Facebook on March 19. He made this insult on social media Facebook. Other students at CUET have expressed outrage at his aggressive behavior. Ordinary students demanded his expulsion and legal action against him if a screenshot containing his insults from a group called CUET Gossip went viral. University Student Welfare Director Prof. Rezaul Karim said, “We already know the matter. I myself have read the statements of all Muslims and non-Muslims in CUET gossip.” They expressed their anger and demanded his punishment. There is no opportunity to give any concession in these matters. Discussion meeting of the disciplinary committee may be held tomorrow on the basis of the data.
