A woman was killed when a car hit a divider in Hatirjheel

A private car collided with a divider near Ambagan in Hatirjheel of the capital. A woman was taken out of the car and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. There the doctors pronounced him dead.

The woman’s name is Jhilik Alam (23). Her husband’s name is Sadiq Alam. Sadiq himself was driving the car.

Hatirjheel police sub-inspector (SI) Saddam Hussein told Prothom Alo that Sadiq Alam had informed them that his wife was injured when the car hit a divider. Later, the police brought the woman to the hospital from there.

Husband Sadiq Alam was not injured in the collision. She is OK.
Sadiq Alam said his wife was ill. He left home to take his wife to the hospital.

Customs officials have recovered more than one kg of gold from a plane at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The gold was recovered from the passenger seat handle of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane on Friday. One person has been arrested in the incident.

According to the customs department sources, on the basis of secret information, the customs officials came to know that the gold consignment could come from Dubai to Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh flight (Flight BG 5046). The plane reached Shahjalal Airport at noon. At that time, the customs officials were monitoring the location at different places of the airport. At one point, they detained and interrogated Jhantu Chandra Varman, an aircraft technician helper inside the aircraft, as his behavior was suspicious. But Jhantu initially denied having gold with him. Later, during interrogation, he admitted that he had gold in his hand in the passenger seat. According to information provided by Jhantu Varman, customs officials recovered 10 gold bars weighing 160 grams per kilogram hidden inside the handle of the 21C seat.


Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Custom House Marufur Rahman told Prothom Alo that a case has been filed against Jhantu at the Airport Police Station. He has been shown arrested in that case. The value of the recovered gold is about 60 lakh rupees. This gold has been deposited in the state treasury.
