Doctors believe that the woman who was rescued from a private car after being hit by a divider in Hatirjheel of the capital died not by road accident but by suffocation.
The woman’s name is Jhilik Alam (23). He lived in Gulshan. After the incident, husband Sakibul Alam was arrested and taken to Hatirjheel police station.
Quoting the doctor in charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bachchu Mia, inspector of the police outpost, told Prothom Alo.
Quoting the doctor, Bachchu Mia said that the woman had marks of injuries on her legs, head and neck. There are similar symptoms to pillow-killing.
Regarding the collision of the vehicle with the road divider at Hatirjheel’s Ambagan, Swami Sakibul Alam said that while taking the private car from home, the vehicle lost control and hit the island on the road in Hatirjheel Ambagan area. He (Sakibul Alam) was slightly injured in his right hand and his wife Jhilik Alam in the car was seriously injured. When he was brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the doctor declared Jhilik dead. Shakibul said he was taking his wife to the hospital as she was ill.
Jhilik’s body has been kept in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College.
Hatirjheel police sub-inspector Golam Quddus brought Jhilik to the hospital from Hatirjheel.
Hatirjheel police officer in charge of the inspector (investigation) said. Mohiuddin told Prothom Alo on Saturday that the arrested Shakib Alam claimed that he was going to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to see his wife. His wife was seriously injured when the car lost control on the way and she was also injured. When Jhilik was later taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead. And he took first aid from that hospital.
Police officer Mohiuddin said the incident was mysterious. He found out that Jhilik was being taken to the hospital from Gulshan in a dead condition. Shakib is hiding the incident. The matter has been reported to the OC of Gulshan police station. Gulshan police station will take necessary action after investigation.
When contacted at around 12:15 pm today, Gulshan Police Station OC Abul Hasan told Prothom Alo that police had been sent to the spot to find out about the incident. The real cause of the incident can be known from them.
