If the bank is open in lockdown, transactions in the stock market will also be active. The decision has already been taken by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).
The BSEC has reiterated its earlier decision as the government announced a lockdown on Saturday. Mohammad Rezaul Karim, a spokesman for the company, told Prothom Alo today, “If the transactions in the bank are active, the trading in the stock market will continue.” We have already taken this decision. ‘Therefore, he requested the investors not to panic or be confused about the stock market transactions in the lockdown.
Earlier, the BSEC issued an emergency notification on March 22 to stop the fall of the stock market due to lockdown rumors. It was said in the notification that if the activities of the bank continue at any time including the coronal period, the trading in the stock market will also continue. Therefore, the regulator requested investors not to listen to any rumors in this regard.
Recalling the notification, a BSEC spokesperson told Prothom Alo today that instructions have been issued by the stock exchange for brokerage houses to conduct their transactions in compliance with hygiene rules.
Earlier, when the government declared a general holiday from March 26 last year due to corona, trading in the stock market was declared closed. At that time, the stock market was closed for 7 consecutive days. After that long holiday, the transaction was resumed from May 31.
Tariqul Islam Chowdhury: We managed the first push of Corona. I started and ended the distribution of incentive loans. The country’s economy was also in the process of turning around. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. But I hope the situation will return to normal in a short time.
Tariqul Islam Chowdhury: After fixing the interest rate from April, we have also fixed the interest rate on our loan at 9 percent. But it was not possible to reduce the interest on the deposit. As a result, our profits have been negatively affected. I think all the banks are facing the same problem. That is why banks now have to focus on non-funded business. However, the decision to reduce interest rates has been good for traders.
