Due to the outbreak of the second wave of coronavirus, the meeting of relatives with the inmates of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj will be closed indefinitely. The decision will take effect from Sunday.
According to Dhaka Central Jail sources, the meeting of relatives with the inmates was closed from the first week of April last year till February 26 this year due to Corona. From March 1, the meeting of relatives with the prisoners started. Due to the increase in the incidence of corona, it was decided to stop the re-meeting indefinitely from tomorrow.
Mahbubul Islam of Dhaka Central Jail told Prothom Alo that due to the outbreak of the second wave of corona, the meeting of relatives with the inmates has been stopped indefinitely on the instructions of the higher authorities. This instruction will remain in force until the Corona situation improves.
Chittagong District Election Officer. Ataur Rahman (45) died after being infected with corona. Ataur Rahman died at the hospital around 2.30pm on Thursday. Additional District Election Officer. Kamrul Alam has confirmed the veracity of this information.
Ataur Rahman was undergoing treatment at Sikder Medical College Hospital in Dhaka.
Additional District Election Officer. Kamrul Alam said Ataur Rahman was first treated at Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka after contracting corona. He was admitted to the ICU of Sikder Medical College Hospital on Thursday. He died there in broad daylight last night.
It is learned that Ataur Rahman went to Dhaka from Chittagong on March 25 with cold and fever. Later on March 29, his corona came positive.
According to the District Civil Surgeon’s Office, 518 corona have been identified in the last 24 hours in Chittagong. Corona detection rate is 20 percent. At the same time, one died in Corona in Chittagong.
So far, 40,601 corona have been identified in Chittagong. A total of 369 people have died in Chittagong due to corona infection.
Two more people have died in Chittagong due to corona infection. They died in the last 24 hours (Wednesday morning to Thursday morning).
Sujan Barua, health supervisor of the Chittagong District Civil Surgeon’s Office, confirmed the deaths of the two in Prothom Alo on Thursday morning. So far 38 people have died in Corona in Chittagong.
In the last 24 hours, 26 people have been newly infected with corona in Chittagong. So far 40,273 corona have been identified in Chittagong.
According to the report of the District Civil Surgeon’s Office, samples of 1,915 people were tested in the last 24 hours. These samples were tested in seven labs.
In the last 24 hours, 26 out of 26 people infected with corona in Chittagong are residents of the city. The remaining 20 are residents of different upazilas of Chittagong.
