Hefazat-e-Islam’s joint secretary general Mamunul Haque has been accused of harassing his wife at an elite royal resort in Narayanganj against local BCL and Juba League leaders.
Hefazat leader Mufti Faisal Mahmud Habibi appeared at Sonargaon police station on Sunday and lodged a complaint on behalf of Mamunul.
Sonargaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the allegation.
According to the complaint, Allama Mamunul Haque, the central joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, took a stay at the Sastrik Hotel on April 3 to rest at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon. He was staying in accordance with the rules and regulations of the hotel. But the manager and employees of hotel owner Saidur Rahman failed to provide security to Allama Mamunul Haque.
At the same time, some terrorists in the area Sonargaon Upazila Juba League President. Rafiqul Islam Nannu and Narayanganj district BCL former vice-president Shah. Allama Mamunul Haque was attacked by some unknown persons led by Sohag Rony. He ripped off the collar of his shirt, pulled Mubarak’s beard and physically assaulted him with obscene and vulgar language and snatched his car keys and wallet.
Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque was staying at the hotel in Narayanganj with his second wife. At one stage, the government party leaders and workers blocked him. Later, however, local leaders and activists of Hefazat rescued him from the blockade.
