RAB has arrested three fugitives in separate robbery cases in Jalalabad and Airport areas of Sylhet. They were arrested on Saturday night.
They are- Md. Jitu Mia (23), Labu Mia (30) and Makhan Mia (48).
According to RAB, a separate RAB-9 expedition team raided Jalalabad and Airport areas on Saturday night and arrested them. Later they were handed over to the concerned police station.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with rape after she was abducted after she was lured away by the Sylhet Airport Police. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man named Rubel Mia for his alleged involvement in the incident.
Rubel, arrested on rape charges, is the son of late Saim Uddin of Bagbari (Hanif Ali’s colony) under Kotwali police station. The abduction took place last Thursday (March 1) afternoon. Meanwhile, the girl’s father filed a case against Rubel at the airport police station on Saturday (March 3) alleging rape.
According to the police, Rubel Mia took the girl to Dakshin Surma in a CNG autorickshaw on March 1 at around 5 pm while she was walking from her home to her grandfather’s house in the airport area. There, Rubel raped a teenager in a room in the colony of a man named Golam Ali on Technical Road.
The girl was later raped until midnight on Friday (April 2) with a false promise to take her home. When the teenager started screaming, Rubel tied her face with a towel and raped her again. Later, the victim’s father Rubel called him on his mobile phone and brought him to Kurbantila under Kaushal Airport Police Station. Later, the girl’s family called the national emergency number and informed the police. The police arrested Rubel and rescued the girl.
The matter was confirmed by Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner of Police (Media) Ashraf Ullah Taher. He said a rape case has been registered against a young man named Rubel Mia at the airport police station for abducting and raping a teenager.
Dakshin Surma Police have arrested Sardar Sanjab Ali, 36, a notorious robber from Sylhet, following his movements in different areas in a fancy CNG autorickshaw driver. The robber Sardar Sanjab Ali is the son of late Saim Uddin of Sailpur Samargaon in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj district. He was arrested on Saturday (April 3) in the Ghasitula area of the city.
South Surma police officer in charge. A vigilant team of Dakshin Surma Thana police comprising SI Rajib Kumar Roy, SI Snehashish Paitya, SI Liton Chandra Dutta, ASI Apan Mia and Force was able to arrest him in a suffocating operation led by Monirul Islam.
According to the police, a robbery took place at the house of Moinul Islam, former chairman of Baldi village in Tetli union, on the night of December 13 last year. When he filed a case in connection with the robbery, the police started investigating the incident. There are several robbery cases against him in different police stations of Sylhet division.
A fine of Tk 6,000 has been imposed in 41 cases for not wearing a mask at Srimangal in Moulvibazar. The fines were imposed by two separate mobile courts on different roads in the city on Saturday afternoon to prevent coronavirus infection. The court was conducted by Srimangal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazrul Islam and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Neshar Uddin.
Executive Officer Nazrul Islam collected fines of Tk 1,800 in 16 cases. And Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nesar Uddin collected fines of Tk 3,400 in 25 cases.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazrul Islam said, “Those who are roaming the city without following the hygiene rules are being fined for dealing with the second phase of coronavirus.” At the same time people are being encouraged to wear masks.
