Trading in the stock market will be two hours from Monday. The transaction will run from 10 am to 12 noon. The new deadline for trading in the stock market has been set due to the reduction in bank transactions.

Mohammad Rezaul Karim, executive director and spokesperson of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulator of the capital market, announced the decision in the first light today. He said the time limit for trading in the stock market has also been limited as the bank has limited the transaction time limit. As a result of the new decision, trading in the stock market will be two hours from Monday.

The stock market has been falling continuously. The main index DSEX on the country’s main stock exchange Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell 174 points in the first 3 hours of trading on Sunday, the first working day of the week. On the other stock market Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the overall index CASPI decreased by 498 points.

The government has announced a one-week lockdown as the incidence of coronavirus has increased. This lockdown will start from Monday tomorrow. And as a result, the stock market has collapsed today.

330 crore has been traded on the DSE at 1 pm. Among the exchanged shares and mutual funds, the prices of 246 have decreased, the prices of only 8 have increased and the prices of 83 have remained unchanged.

At the end of the last trading day, the DSEX index fell 6 points to 5280 points. The transaction on that day was 451 crore 33 lakh taka.

On the other hand, among the shares and mutual funds exchanged on the CSE till 1 pm, the price of 159 has decreased, the price of only 12 has increased and the price of 15 has remained unchanged.

The announcement of the lockdown came yesterday to prevent corona infection. However, the stock market transactions will remain active in the lockdown. The decision was taken earlier by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). The BSEC reiterated its earlier decision after announcing a lockdown on Saturday. Mohammad Rezaul Karim, a spokesman for the company, told Prothom Alo: We have already taken this decision. ‘
