A former student of Bogra’s Azizul Haque College has been stabbed to death by miscreants. The incident took place in front of the Shaheed Moon Hall of the college around 9 pm on Sunday. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Monday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.
The deceased was identified as Bishu Mia, 32. His home is in Pakuria village of Deuli union in Shibganj upazila. Bishu Mia, who passed her master’s degree from the accounting department of the government-run Azizul Haque College four years ago, was looking for a job in a dormitory in the adjoining Jamilnagar area, the family said.
Police at the Bogra Stadium outpost took care of the law and order situation at the government Azizul Haque College. After making an inquest report on the body this morning, the outpost’s sub-inspector (SI) Jahangir Alam told Prothom Alo that at first it was thought that the murder was the work of a snatcher. But during the inquest report, it was seen that the wallet was intact in the pants pocket of the deceased. There are four thousand rupees in the wallet and two mobile phones in the pocket. If it was the work of a snatcher, he would take money and mobile phone. It is being investigated whether there is any other reason behind the murder.
Bishu Mia’s younger sister Jahanara Khatun is also a student of Government Azizul Haque College. Jahanara said her brother went home to fetch money for Mess’s expenses. Yesterday he left home for Bogra with four thousand rupees. The last time he talked to his brother on his mobile phone was around 8.30 pm. At that time, he said, he was walking towards Jamilnagar Mess by walking in front of Moon Hall of the college campus. Call after reaching the mess. A few minutes later, Jahanara got the news that her brother’s bloody body had been recovered.
According to police, SI Rabiul Islam, who was working at Bogra Police Lines, was attacked and stabbed by miscreants on the road in front of Moon Hall last Friday. He is undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra.
Ziaul Islam, a resident of Jahurulnagar area adjacent to the government Azizul Haque College and a college teacher, said that people living in hundreds of dormitories and houses in the Jahurulnagar area have to travel on the road in front of Moon Hall. There is no night lighting on the road. That is why this road became ‘terrible’ after evening. Earlier, a night watchman was stabbed to death by miscreants on this road. Several crimes are also committed on this road. Due to this, the movement of this road after evening has become a cause of panic among the locals.
