The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) Manikganj CPC has arrested a youth named Rohan Mia (20) with 100 pieces of yaba from Bangladesh Hat area of Garpara Union of Manikganj Sadar Upazila.
Rohan, who was arrested with drugs, is the son of late Rafiqul Islam of Panjanbhakhara village in Garpara. He was arrested around 8:30 pm on Monday. Senior ASP Unu Mong, company commander of RAB-4 Manikganj office, confirmed the information.
The RAB official said Sohan was a professional drug dealer and drug addict. On the basis of secret information, he was arrested in Hatena along with 100 pieces of yaba from a place called Bangladesh Hat in Garpara Union.
A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Act at Sadar Police Station in this regard, said ASP Unu Mong, company commander of RAB Manikganj.
The sharp weapon used in the murder of Ibrahim (30) due to previous enmity at Padma Char in Bagha, Rajshahi has been recovered.
Police of Bagha police station recovered the swan around 5:30 pm on Monday.
Dila Bepari, the second accused in the case, was arrested and remanded for two days. Based on his information in remand, the sharp sickle used to kill Ibrahim has been recovered from a corn field in Padma Char.
Bagha Police Station OC (investigation) Abdul Bari said Dila Bepari was arrested from Baromail area of Terkhadia in Kushtia’s Bheramara upazila on March 30.
He was later remanded in custody for five days. The court granted a two-day remand. Accordingly, he was brought to the police station on April 4. During the interrogation, Ibrahim was stabbed to death with a sharp sickle. The hammer is said to have been kept in a cornfield in Char. According to him, the swan was recovered on Monday afternoon.
Dila Bepari is the son of late Haider Bepari of Chaumadia Char in Chakrajapur Union in Padma.
According to Bagha Police Station sources, Ibrahim Dewan was hacked to death by Abdur Rashid’s men on the night of March 24 near Chaumadia Government Primary School in Padma of Bagha Upazila.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim, son of Haji Dewan of the area.
The next day, on March 25, Ibrahim’s brother Soleiman Dewan filed a case with the police, naming 11 people. Dila Bepari is the number two accused in the case.
It may be mentioned that on February 26, 10 people were injured in a shootout and clash between Dila Bepari and Majnu Darji over weeding the land. Abdur Rahman, a member of Ward No. 2 of Chaumadia Char in Chakrajapur Union, also filed a case against 18 people.
