On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, import and export through Healy land port has been stopped.
All activities at the port, including import and export of goods between the two countries, have been suspended since Wednesday morning.
Abdur Rahman Liton, general secretary of Healy Customs C&F Agents Association, said no activities were taking place at the port on Wednesday on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary and National Children’s Day-2021. However, import-export activities between the two countries will be normal as usual from Thursday morning.
On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day, import-export activities have been announced at Sonamasjid land port.
Abdul Awal, president of the Sonamasjid Land Port C&F Agents Association, confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
He said no import activities would be carried out at the port on Wednesday on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary and National Children’s Day-2021. Import-export activities will be normal as usual from Thursday morning.
The BGMEA, an association of ready-made garment owners, has won a majority in the elections. The Joint Council has won 24 out of a total of 35 directorships. The remaining 11 have been won by the ABM Samsuddin Forum Panel. As a result, the next president of BGMEA is Farooq Hasan.
Chairman of the Election Management Board Professor Farhat Anwar announced the results of the election at 12:30 pm on Sunday.
A total of 60 candidates, including 35 from two panels, have contested for 35 BGMEA director posts in Dhaka and Chittagong. There are 1753 voters in Dhaka region and 481 voters in Chittagong region. The total number of votes cast in Dhaka region is 1,804. And Chittagong has 392.
Analyzing the results, it has been seen that the joint council has won 16 out of 26 director posts in Dhaka region. The forum has won in 9 of them. Faruk Hasan of the joint council got 1204 votes. Rubana Haque, the current BGMEA Presidential Forum candidate, got 1,156 votes. However, the forum’s panel leader ABM Samsuddin could not be elected director. On the other hand, in Chittagong region, the joint council got 8 posts as against 9 director posts. The other two got the forum.
Those who won the post of director:
Faruk Hasan, SM Mannan Kochi, Arshad Jamal Dipu, Shahidullah Azim, Shirin Salam Oishee, Asif Ashraf, Mohiuddin Rubel, Tanvir Ahmed, Khasru Chowdhury, Abdullah Hill Rakib, Harun Aur Rashid, Rajib Chowdhury have been elected from the joint council in Dhaka region. Miran Ali, Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Imranur Rahman, Nasir Uddin and Sajjadur Rahman Mridha. In Chittagong region, Syed Nazrul Islam, Tanvir Habib, AM Shafiqul Karim Khokon, Hasan Jackie, Ahsanul Haque, Rakibul Alam Chowdhury and Mohammad Meraj-e-Mostafa Kaiser have been elected.
Elected from the forum – Dr. Dhaka region. Rubana Haque, MA Rahim Firoz, Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, Asif Ibrahim, Faisal Samad, Navidul Haque, Vidya Amrit Khan, Enamul Haque Khan Babul, Mizanur Rahman. M Mohiuddin Chowdhury and Mohammad Abdus Salam have been elected in Chittagong region.
The new board will take charge on April 20. The winning directors will elect 5 presidents including the president in Dhaka and 2 vice presidents in Chittagong.
Meanwhile, ABM Samsuddin, the panel leader of the forum, alleged that outsiders were brought during the voting in the morning. He said that the candidates of the joint council had gathered thousands of people at the entrance of the center in violation of the health rules. They are not members of BGMEA.
