The number of divisions and seats has increased in DU, examinations in 8 divisional cities

Dhaka University (DU) has started accepting online applications for admission in the 1st year undergraduate (honors) class in the 2020-2021 academic year from 5 pm on Monday. This time, one department and 15 seats have been added in DU. Besides, major changes have been made in the admission test system, application conditions and the overall aspects of the test including taking admission test in eight sections of the country.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was the chief guest at the event and inaugurated the online admission program this afternoon.

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor. Abu Md. Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Biology. Md. Imdadul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies. Muhammad Abdul Moin, convener of the online admission committee, Professor. Md. Mostafizur Rahman and senior officials of the university were present.

Distribution of examinations: MCQ of 80 marks and written test of 40 marks will be taken in the admission test of ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ units. There will be MCQ of 40 marks and drawing test of 60 marks only in ‘C’ unit examination. MCQ examination of ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ units will be held for 45 minutes and written examination for 45 minutes. The MCQ test of ‘C’ unit will be 30 minutes and the drawing test time will be 60 minutes.

Examination Schedule: A-Unit Admission Test on Friday 21st May 2021, B-Unit Admission Test on Saturday 22nd May 2021, C-Unit Admission Test on Thursday 26th May 2021, D-Unit Admission Test on Friday 26th May 2021 and C-Unit Admission Test (General) Knowledge) will be held on 05 June 2021 Saturday and drawing test will be held on 19 June 2021 Saturday. A, B, C, and D unit examinations will be held from 11 am to 12 noon. Unit F General Knowledge (MCQ) examination will be held from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and drawing test will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Increased application conditions: This time the minimum application condition of DU has been increased as compared to last year. The minimum qualification of the applicants for admission is ‘G’ for Unit ‘A’ in Secondary / Equivalent and GPA in Higher Secondary / Equivalent Examination (with 4th subject). 6.0 (separately 3.0), the sum of GPA-two for ‘C’ unit is minimum 6.0 (3.5 separately), the sum of GPA-two for ‘D’ unit is minimum 7.5 (separately 3). 5) In the case of humanities and commerce, the sum of GPAs should be at least 6.0 (separately 3.0) and for ‘C’ units the sum of GPAs should be at least 7.0 (separately GPA 3.0).

Admission test in eight divisional cities: This time the university administration has decided to take admission test in eight divisional cities of the country due to Corona. For this, the major universities of the concerned departments will be responsible for arranging the examination seats and managing the examination centers. Students have also been given the opportunity to take exams in convenient sections.

In this regard, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Akhtaruzzaman said the admission test for the 1st year undergraduate (honors) class will be held in all departmental cities including Dhaka to alleviate the suffering of students and their parents outside the Dhaka division. In addition, the universities of the divisional cities will manage the admission test and the coordinators of their respective units will be in charge of its supervision.

New Department Meteorology: From the academic year 2020-21, a new department called Meteorology is going to be introduced in Dhaka University. And the number of seats is 15. As a result, the total number of seats has increased to 7133.

In this regard, the Vice-Chancellor said, 15 students will be admitted in the new Meteorological Department of A-Unit this year. Therefore, the total number of seats has been fixed at 7133 this year. There are 1610 seats in A-unit, 236 seats in B-unit, 1250 seats in C-unit, 1560 seats in D-unit and 135 seats in C-unit.

Increased admission fee: DU application fee has been increased this year. Last year the application fee was Tk 450 but this time it has been increased to Tk 650. In addition to 4 state-owned banks – Sonali, Agrani, Janata and Rupali Banks this year, admission test fees can be submitted through online debit / credit card, mobile banking (bKash, cash, rocket, etc.) and internet banking.

The last date for submission of fees is 1 April 2021 till 4 pm. Admission tickets can be downloaded from 3 pm on Saturday 1 May 2021 till 30 minutes before the start of the examination of the concerned unit. Admission details can be found on the website (https://admission.eis.du.ac.bd) and admission guidelines. Admission notices have already been published in various national newspapers.
Due to technical complications, the online admission application of Dhaka University has been postponed till 8 pm on Sunday.

Note that admission test of A-unit is on 21st May 2021 Friday, admission test of B-unit is on 22nd May 2021 Saturday, admission test of C-unit is on Thursday 26th May 2021, admission test of D-unit is on 26th May 2021 Friday, admission test of C-unit (general knowledge) ) 5 June 2021 Saturday and C-Unit Admission Test (Drawing) will be held on 19 June 2021 Saturday.
