Top leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh’s Dhaka Central Committee have demanded that Maulana Mamunul Haque and his wife be brought under the punishment of harassers. “We are convinced that her marriage is pure in the light of Islamic law,” they said. There is no room for confusion. Every citizen of the country has the right to go anywhere with his wife and family. The emergency meeting was held at Jamia Rahmania yesterday.
The leaders, presided over by Naib Amir Maulana Abdul Hamid Peersaheb Madhupuri, said Maulana Mamunul Haque went to the Sonargaon resort with his wife on April 3. Terrorists have jumped on a well-known and respected person like the sad Maulana Mamunul Haque. I strongly demand that the accused be brought to justice. They said the way the personal affairs of a citizen were presented in the National Assembly was something the people never expected. We call for the withdrawal of this statement.
The speakers said that on March 26, 27 and 28, Baitul Mukarram, Hathazari, B-Baria, Munshiganj and other places across the country, Hifazat activists and protesters were attacked. Numerous of our workers have been arrested in different parts of the country. They must be released immediately and unconditionally.
