Locals said headmaster SB Golam Mostafa was having breakfast at a hotel in Banglabazar of Rafinagar union in Dirai upazila on Sunday morning. He warned his acquaintances that Hefazat leaders Maulana Mamunul Haque and Rafiqul Haque were misleading the religious people by misinterpreting Madani religion. At that time, a local Hefazat leader heard his statement and accused Golam Mostafa of insulting religion. At one stage, the leaders and workers of the local custody joined him. Upon receiving the news, Dirai Upazila Parishad Chairman Manjurul Alam Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmudur Rahman Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sunamganj Police Station Ashraful Islam, Rafinagar Union Chairman Rezoan Hossain Khan and other local dignitaries sat in the emergency meeting. Knowing the matter in the afternoon, Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury directed the Nawfel Deputy Commissioner to ensure the safety of the teacher. He also said that if anyone wants to humiliate him, he should take strict legal action.
