They started swimming (single cross) from Shah Pari Island around 10 am on Monday, March 29. Swimming is organized by Sharaj Adventure and Extreme Bangla. Lipton Sarkar, chief executive of Sharjah Adventures and a record 16-time swimmer, has confirmed this information.
He said four swimmers started swimming (single cross) from Shah Pari Island and went to St. Martin. They are Holy Kumar Das, Arnab Biswas, Dipankar Biswas and Lipton Sarkar. Among them, Pabitra Kumar Das, Arnab Biswas and Lipton Sarkar successfully crossed the Bengali channel.
“On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of our independence, some of our swimmers have taken part in this special event,” Lipton said. Pabitra Kumar Das passed SSC in 1998 and HSC in 2000. He then did BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology.
Arnab Biswas passed SSC from Jessore District School in 2003 and SSC from Jessore Cantonment College in 2005. Later he passed Civil Engineering from BUET and completed Masters in Development Studies from Dhaka University. He recently completed an MBA from IBA.
Arnab Biswas said, the news of Bangla channel organized in 2020 made me very excited. I started training under swimming coach Saiful Islam Russell. During the severe winter, our training continues in the pond of Zahurul Haque Hall of Dhaka University. This time Russell Bhai became the first Bangladeshi to cross the double channel of Bangla Channel.
