Traders have been protesting in the New Market area of the capital for the third day in a row demanding reopening of the market. Traders and shopkeepers staged a protest in front of Chandni Chowk Shopping Complex from 10 am to 1 pm on Tuesday. The protesting traders demanded that the market be kept open at certain times of the day in compliance with the hygiene rules. These stores have been instructed to close due to government restrictions to prevent coronavirus infection.

Kamal Hossain, a businessman, said, “The government thinks that if the business does not survive, the country will not survive.” We want to keep the market open for a certain period of time. I don’t know what will happen if the shop is not open in Ramadan. I couldn’t make up for last year’s losses, ”cried the businessman from the Globe Shopping Complex.

Dilshad Afrin is a woman entrepreneur. He came from Narayanganj to join the protest. He has a textile factory there. Dilshad said he supplied clothes to various shops in New Market and Chandni Chowk. In the first light, she said, ‘Thousands of women entrepreneurs like me have opened businesses with loans from banks and NGOs. Entrepreneur has been. Many women entrepreneurs are starving now, ”he said, adding that it would be difficult for them to repay their loans if the market was closed. Dilshad complained that the government was giving various benefits to women. We are not getting those benefits. ‘

Monir Hossain, general secretary of Chandni Chowk Business Forum, told Prothom Alo that they have been coping with the push to close last year’s general holidays and businesses since January.

Monir Hossain added, “Our clothes will go from wholesalers to retailers.” Then customers will buy, then let Taylor make it. Our peak hour is now. ‘

Monir Hossain said thrips and other clothes are no longer sold after 10 to 15 days of fasting. Because, Taylor’s job is later. If Taylor stopped taking orders, no one would buy their clothes. “The money we’ve invested is spent on clothing manufacturers, bank loans, shop rent, employee salaries, family expenses,” he said. All in all we have suffered a lot. Even we small business owners do not get state incentives. ‘
