The third round of voting took place on Tuesday in the Assembly elections in the Indian state of West Bengal. This time the vote was more violent than the previous two rounds. The situation was even more critical in the case of the three deaths.
In the third phase of West Bengal, out of 294 assembly seats, 16 were in South 24 Parganas, six in Howrah and six in Hughli districts. Voting begins at 7 a.m. Indian time. It lasts till 6:30 in the evening. In this election which started on March 26, 60 seats have been voted in the previous two rounds.
The Trinamool Congress won 30 of the 31 seats in the 2016 assembly elections. The Congress won one. But in terms of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is leading in 30 of these 31 seats.
There have been a number of isolated incidents centering on Tuesday’s vote. The Trinamool and the BJP have accused the three deaths of being political assassinations. In Goghat, a BJP activist was beaten by Trinamool supporters on Monday night and his mother came to release him. At this time he was also severely beaten. Then the woman named Madhabi Adak (50) died. The BJP claims that grassroots terrorists have killed Madhavi.
Trinamool booth president Sunil Roy, 72, died on the way back from voting in Goghat on Tuesday afternoon. Trinamool claims that BJP terrorists pushed and killed Sunil. However, BJP candidate for the seat Bishwanath Karak said Sunil Roy had died of a heart attack. After that, the Trinamool has accused him of pushing and killing him.

Meanwhile, the body of a 36-year-old BJP supporter named Patihar Dom was found in a pond near his house in Dubrajpur of Birbhum on Tuesday morning. The BJP claims that grassroots terrorists have killed Patihar Dom.
Besides, it has been alleged that Nirmal Maji, a grassroots candidate from Ulberia Center in Howrah, was assaulted by BJP supporters on Tuesday. Actress and candidate Papia Adhikari has been humiliated by Trinamool supporters. Arambagh Trinamool candidate Sujata Mandal Khan has alleged that she was beaten by BJP supporters. Sujata’s husband is BJP MP Soumitra Khan. As she did not get along with her husband, Sujata left the BJP and joined the Trinamool and was nominated by the Trinamool to contest the elections.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate Bidhan Parui was allegedly injured in an attack by Trinamool supporters. His car was vandalized. Khanakul’s grassroots candidate Nazimul Karim has also been insulted by BJP supporters. Besides, BJP candidate Khokon Mandal from Baruipur in South 24 Parganas has been beaten by Trinamool activists.
Meanwhile, an EVM machine was recovered from the residence of a Trinamool leader on Tuesday morning. The officer who kept the EVM machine in the house has been arrested. In addition to the third round of voting, agents were prevented from entering various polling stations, voting was obstructed, fraudulent ballots, bomb blasts, intimidation and several clashes took place.
