The bodies of 35 people have so far been recovered from the launch sinking in the Shitalakshya river in Narayanganj. BIWTA has filed a case against Sabit Al Hasan for drowning a Munshiganj-bound launch and killing 36 passengers. However, no one was named as an accused in the case.BIWTA Narayanganj River Port Deputy Director (Naval Nitra) Babu Lal Vaidya filed the case with Narayanganj Port Police Station on Tuesday (April 6) night.
The plaintiff in the case, Babu Lal Vaidya, said that the case has been filed under sections 260, 304, 336, 338, 426, 437 and section 70 of the England Shipping Ordinance 198. It has been alleged in the case that 36 people were killed with the intention of killing and recklessly speeding. However, no one was named as an accused in the case.
Bandar Police Station OC Deepak Chandra Saha said the BIWTA official had filed the case accusing the unidentified persons. It has been mentioned that the murder was committed by sailing at a reckless speed with the intention of killing. Hopefully it will be possible to arrest the culprits very soon.
It may be mentioned that the coaster tanker named SKL-3 hit the area near Shitalakshya bridge of Syedpur-Madanganj under construction on Shitalakshya river and the launch named Sabit Al Hasan from Narayanganj to Munshiganj sank with more than 50 passengers. The bodies of 36 people were recovered till noon on Tuesday, April 6. However, two days after the incident, the deadly coaster tanker named SKL-3 has not been seized yet.
At least eight people have been killed and four others injured in separate gun attacks in Nigeria’s northwestern state of Kaduna. A government official said on Tuesday. Arwan said five people were killed when armed robbers blocked a Kaduna-Kachia road in Kadani village in Kazuru and attacked a truck carrying firewood. Three more people were injured in the attack.
In another incident, he said, gunmen attacked a truck at Doka Axis on the same road. The truck driver was killed.
In recent months, there has been a spate of gun attacks in northern Nigeria.
